Tim Thomas is an American Goaltender playing for the Boston Bruins. Thomas excelled
at the collegiate hockey level; he is third in NCAA Division Record Book for career saves
(3,950), where he led The University of Vermont to their first Frozen Four. Thomas was
drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in 1994 after his freshman year, 217th overall, but
chose to stay in college. After college, Thomas played for a couple different minor
league and European teams before emerging as a star with the Bruins.
Tim Thomas broke out as a star in the 2007-2008 NHL season, taking over the starting
job early in the season, which led to Thomas being named to his first of three straight All-
Star games. His next season was even better with Thomas bringing home the Vezina
Trophy (NHL Award for best Goalkeeper) for the 2008-2009 season. In 2010 Thomas was
one of the goalies who helped America bring home the silver medal at the 2010 Winter
Olympics.
The 2010-2011 season has proved to be Thomas’s best as he was named to his third
straight All-Star Game, broke the record for the highest save percentage for a season
(938%), and is once again a finalist for the Vezina Trophy.
