Curtis McElhinney is a Canadian professional ice hockey player currently playing for the
Anaheim Ducks. He was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft in
the sixth round, 176th overall.
McElhinney had a stellar collegiate career at Colorado College in which he won two
selections to the WCHA First All-Star Team, as well as NCAA West Second All-
American Team in 2003 and the NCAA First All-American Team in 2005. He made his
professional debut during the 2005-06 season with the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights of the
AHL. The next year, he set an Omaha team record with 44 wins and tied for the AHL
lead in shutouts. That year, he played in the AHL All-Star Game and was named to the
AHL Second All-Star Team.
In 2007, McElhinney made his NHL debut with the Flames on October 22, 2007. He
spent the 2008-09 season with the Flames as Miikka Kiprusoff’s backup. After signing a
two-year contract before the 2009-10 season, he was traded to the Ducks on March 3,
2010.
