Mario Lemieux is considered one of the greatest hockey players of
all time. He played 17 seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins and
won 2 Stanley Cups. Following his retirement, Lemieux purchased
the Penguins after they went bankrupt in 1999, which helped keep
the team in Pittsburgh and build them into a perennial Stanley Cup
contender. In 2009, Lemieux became the first person to win a
Stanley Cup as a player and an owner.
Lemieux knows the importance of speed and agility in today’s
game which is why he has backed MLX Skates. “The speed of the
game has increased every year and skating has become more than
just an asset to any player—it's a way to get noticed. Having the
right equipment gives a player that needed edge, which is why I
support the ideas and concepts behind this product and company.”
Lemieux revolutionized the way hockey was played. He was one of
the first players to combine size, speed, and pure skill. The way
Lemieux diced through defense was amazing. He could muscle you
off of the puck then accelerate, deke, and dangle you.
